Hearing Evaluations

A hearing evaluation is the first step in diagnosing your individual needs.  It enables us to determine where you are hearing well, and where you may need some help.  The tests performed during this evaluation may vary, but are used to determine the extent, type, and details of your unique hearing loss.  Since there are different types of hearing loss, each needs to be treated in a specific way.  This evaluation uncovers key information that tells us where and how to focus treatment.  The entire evaluation takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

After your evaluation is complete, we will spend some time discussing your results.  We will carefully outline our findings and our professionals will make a recommendation based on your needs.  During this time, don’t be afraid to ask questions.  We want you to be comfortable and will take the time to help you understand the information.

Hearing Aid Fittings and Programming

If we’ve completed your hearing evaluation, and it has been determined you would benefit from amplification, we will work with you to select the right hearing aid for your needs.  Our trained staff will then program your new hearing devices to meet your exact specifications.
From there, we will discuss the ins and outs including:

  • How to use your hearing aids
  • How to put your hearing aids in correctly
  • How to remove your hearing aids
  • How to change your hearing aid’s batteries
  • How to clean and maintain your hearing aids

After you’ve been fit with your new hearing aids, we’ll schedule regular follow-up appointments to ensure you are getting the most out of them.  During these meetings, we’ll clean your hearing aids to keep them in good condition, and make any adjustments needed to help you hear clearly.

Hearing Aid Repair

If you have a hearing aid that needs repair, bring it to us for a diagnosis.  Our knowledgeable team can identify what is occurring, and often make repairs directly in the office.  With our start-of-the-art tools, we can generally fix your hearing aids in a few short minutes.

However, sometimes a hearing aid may require a repair that is more than we can handle.  When this occurs, we may have to send your hearing aids to the manufacturer.  Rest easy though, knowing that our dedicated team will help work with you to make this process as painless as possible.  We’ll discuss your options, keep you updated on timelines, and may offer some loaner hearing aids for the time being.  We’ll do everything we can to get you back on the path to better hearing quickly.

Ear Molds and Ear Plugs

If you are frequently in loud-noise environments, effective hearing protection is invaluable.  While store-bought ear plugs do offer a small degree of protection, custom ear plugs provide a much higher level of protection.  Below are just a few of the types of ear plugs that we can create custom for you:

  • Musician’s ear plugs and monitors
  • Swimmer’s ear plugs
  • Hunting and shooting ear plugs
  • Hearing aid ear molds
  • Headphone ear molds

Tinnitus Management

Tinnitus (pronounced ti-ni-tis), or ringing in the ears, is the sensation of hearing ringing, buzzing, hissing, chirping, whistling, or other sounds. The noise can be intermittent or continuous, and can vary in loudness. It is often worse when background noise is low, so you may be most aware of it at night when you’re trying to fall asleep.

There are many possible causes of tinnitus, however many are unknown.  The most common causes are:

  • Exposure to loud sounds
  • Injuries to the head or neck
  • Reaction to medication (Ototoxicity)
  • Natural aging
  • Sudden impact noises
  • Untreated medical conditions

While there is no cure for tinnitus, it can be managed.  Our professional team can help you gain control and take back your life by forming a course of treatment that suits your specific needs.
